INTRODUCTION

• Now a day’s , vehicle energy harvesting and improvement of energy efficiency has become more popular.• Only 10-16% fule energy in the vehicles is utilized for driving

to over come resistance from road friction and air drag ,one most important loss is kinetic energy dissipated by shock abosrber.• The function of vehicle suspension system is to support the

weigth of vehicle body.

Page 4: power generating shock absorber

• Suspension is a important source of energy dissipation.• We aim to develop a product design to harvest the energy

from motion an thermal losses in vehicle engines to better meet tomorrows power demands in the automotive industry.

LITERATURE SURVEYPAPERS AUTHOR JOURNALS SUMMARY

A preliminary study of energy recovery in vehicles by using regenerative magnetic shock absorbers.

Goldner rb,Zerigian and Hull.

SAE paper This paper proposed electromagnetic(EM) shock absorbers to transform the energy dissipated in shock absoebers into electrical power.

Design of electromagnetic shock absorbers.

Gupta,Jendrzejczyk, Mulcahy and hull jr

Mechanics and material design

Thay mention that energy regeneration is small and may be relevant only for electric vehicles.

Structure and performance analysis of regenerative electromagnetic shock absorber.

Zhen longxin and Wei xiaogang

Networks The innovative shock absorber resembles linear generator in principle and can generate electric power through the relative motion b/w coil ang magnet

OBJECTIVES• The design of the system that will converts kinetic energy

into electricity instead of heat through a Linear Motion Electromagnetic System.• Electricity is then converted into direct current through a full

wave rectifier and stored in the vehicle‟s betteries to increase battery life.• Possible to implement in vehicle suspension with minimum

design changes.• Can harvest energy in both expansion and compression.

• Suspension systems which is a main part of assembly.• Stator windings and permanent magnet are the main parts of

the construction.• Bridge rectifier-It is an arrangement of 4 diodes in a bridge

citcuit. Configuration that provides the same polority of output for either polority of input.• Capactior-It is apassive two terminal electrical component

used to store energy in the form of electric charge .

WORKING

• This works on the principle of faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction.

• Explains that when ever the magnetic flux linked with a circuit changes, an EMF is always induced in it.

• When shock absorber come into action simultaneously stator winding comes into action.

• The flux cuts the permanent magnetic field ,due to this EMF is induced.

• Due to the EMF effect, the current is produced.

Page 13: power generating shock absorber

• The bridge rectifier converts the alternating current to the direct current.

• The current can be used for lightening of bulbs or it can also be stored in a capacitor.

MERITS• Shock absorbers have a great for performance, handling and stability. They

are best choice for work and severe use vehicle

• It improves fuel economy and cost saving.

• Continous supply of energy.

• Simple in design

• Energy efficient performance and long lasting reliability

APPLICATIONS

• In military areas • Commercial trucking industry• This technology can be applied to any type of vehicle• In industrial access
