Snow Sports like skiing and boarding have just started receiving attention in India, whereas in

North America and Europe it's a niche lifestyle. Indian Himalaya contains some of the best ski

slopes awaiting development for the enthusiasts. We, at AQ have picked up the mantle to

develop winter sporting options in India.

As a testimonial to our commitment towards the sport, we run a ski lodge in Solang Valley

ahead of Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The lodge serves as the base to a number of famed treks

like Beas Kund, Bhrigu Lake etc. and introductory peaks like Friendship, Ladakhi, and Shitidhar.

In winter it transforms into a ski lodge and is situated right at the foot of the ski slopes. We offer

heated rooms, all the equipment required for skiing / boarding and expert instructors and

guides.

Skiing is a wonderful sport and exercise but be warned, it's addictive – your tummy disappears,

your muscles tone up, your skin glows with good health. Solang in winter is not only about ski,

there are other magical experiences, like watching the dawn break on the beautiful Friendship

Peak, watching the stars on a clear, chilly winter night and the snowflakes floating gently,

soundlessly before settling down.

Day 1: Delhi – Manali

Day 2: Manali – Solang Valley: Introduction to Skiing

Day 3 to 6: Skiing:

Arrive at Delhi. Board the bus to Manali. Overnight journey

Reach Manali early morning and transfer to the ski lodge at Solang Valley. Issue of

ski equipment and introduction to ski instructors, your equipment and various

ski techniques. In the evening, there will be a lecture on ski care and

maintenance.

In these 4 days you will learn to walk with single and double skis on a flat ground,

slide and balancing, fall and recovery, side stepping and herring bone stepping to

climb uphill, to stop while sliding down, snow ploughing, traversing in snow

plough position and snow plough turning to both left and right side, snow plough

turns on gentle, moderate and steep slopes, snow plough through slalom poles

and basic swing exercise.

Day 7: Solang Valley – Manali:

Day 8: Manali – Delhi:

Day 9: Delhi

Skiing ends at Solang Valley. After breakfast leave for Manali. Spend the day

exploring the town, shopping for souvenirs and enjoying some great cafes and

restaurants sprinkled around the town.

Board the bus by evening for Delhi. Overnight journey

Reach Delhi in the morning and board the train / flight towards home.

For the initiated, we offer intermediate and advanced courses in skiing and

boarding.
