Body ImaginingAt what point would you stop recognizing your body as your own?

Page 2: Body Imagining

The Objective• To examine the perspective of individuals

towards their own bodies by creating 3D renderings of the individuals and then altering their “reflections” right in front of them

Page 3: Body Imagining

The Process

• Use 3D imaging software such as Geometric Informatics “real-time 3D capture technology” to render a graphic of the user’s body

• Either use an algorithm or input from the user to alter the 3D computer model of the user’s body

Page 4: Body Imagining

How the 3D Capture System Works• inside the box is a projector that displays a high frequency strobed fringe onto the subject matter

• a separate component captures the fringe data a calculates the distortion values to create 3D model

Page 5: Body Imagining

The Purpose

• to address issues of body image and self-perception

• to consider the difference between the actual physical body and the mental perception of the body

-Which is “real”?

-From which is the concept of “self” derived?
