Point of View (P.O.V) Portrays the film from the character’s perspective.

Over the Shoulder Clearly see expressions of character, similar to P.O.V.

Framing shot Draws attention to a section of the shot. Also used to show change in scenery.

Crane shot Used to establish the scene.

Arial shot/Birds eye Puts the scene into proportion.

Close-up Shows emotions on the face as a whole or detail/importance of objects.

Extreme close up Similar to close up but focused on a specific detail.

Mid-shot Shows actions of character from head to waist.

Long-shot Shows the actions of character from head to toe as well as showing some scenery.

Establishing shot Makes it clear where the scene is going to take place.

Tilt shot Follows action as it moves up/down. Camera stays stationary.

Panning/Arc shot Focuses on action as it moves across the scene. Camera is stationary.

Tracking / dolly shot Keeps camera footage steady whilst following the action across a distance.

Handheld Camera held by operator and gives the shot a more first person, relatable view.
