I looked at Nina Nesbitt’s ‘Way In The World’ music video to see what kind of shot types and angles

were used.

I noticed that in a few shots they used the rule of thirds to position Nina. I also noticed that the rest of the scene is mostly plain coloured and could be considered as negative space.

I also noticed that many shots started with Nina out of focus and then the depth of field altered so she was in focus, this is a common shot in music videos.

I thought the way Nina had been framed in this shot was very creative as it shows her through a open door frame with other people in the scene in front of her creating another focus point.

I noticed there were a lot of close up shots mainly of her face showing much more detail and Nina performing the song.

I looked at Ariana Grande’s ‘The Way’ music video to see what kind of shot types and angles were

used.

In this music video the song was performed in front of a projection screen which they projected clips which they had previously recorded. This was an interesting idea as I had never seen this done in a music video before but thought it worked really well.

A lot of birds eye view and high angle shots were used in this music video as it helped to set the scene and show a different and unexpected but useful perspective.

Overall by looking at several music videos I have noticed that there are many different shot types and angles which are not always noticed when watching the music video the first time. Many creative ideas and shot types need to be considered including the type of composition and framing in music videos.
