We decided to reflect back on our research when it came to planning our costumes. As both of us had done a lot of research into the pop and rock conventions we decided to base our costumes on these conventions.

Reflecting back on previous research the two main conventions that were found out about the pop genre were: colour and performance. Therefore we have decided that we are going to incorporate colourful clothes into our costume plan. This meaning that our performer will be wearing at least one piece of bright colourful clothing in every performance shot

that we incorporate into our music video..

A lot of pop female artist wear a lot of heavy make up in music videos. However when reflecting back on both of our inspirations

and influences we both chose pop artist that wear subtle make up. For example Pink hardly ever wears brightly coloured make up in her videos and also Jessie J is the same. Therefore my partner and I have

decided that our performer should be natural looking with the expectation of either bright lips or colourful eye shadow. This also backs up the theme of our song “perfect” as it states the fact that

girls don’t have to wear masses of make up to look good.

Many pop artist keep up to date with the latest fashion, some even have their own clothing lines.

E.g. Katy Perry and Rihanna. Katy Perry and Rihanna tend to wear their own clothing in their

music video to promote them to a vast and variety of audience types. We have decided to dress our

performer in fashionable but subtle clothing. Although many pop artist wear revealing clothing we have decided to keep this to a minimal due to

the fact we don't want to come across inappropriate to our audience.

Many pop artist wear their hair curly or wavy.

Many female rock artist wear dark coloured clothing. As our song is

under the pop rock genre we have decided that our performer should

wear at least one piece of dark clothing at all times. Many pop rock

artist such as Avril Lavigne wear dark yet stylish clothing. Therefore my partner and I decided that our

performer should wear stylish fashionable clothing.

After analysing some pop rock music videos my partner and I have noticed that many artists wear their hair straight but in a

messy hair style.

Reflecting back on our rock conventions we have notice that the two main conventions are: dark clothing/make up. Many artist like Avril Lavigne wear heavy make up and dark clothing therefore my partner and I have decided to incorporate some of these conventions in our own music video. We’ve also noticed that studs and spikes are often used in pop rock music video, therefore we may experiment with different types of studded jewellery.
