Conquering a territory:

Conquering opponents’ territory: Players are able to conquer opponents’ territory the same way as they are conquering a territory. However, players will have to engage a card battle duel with the opponent. The opponent (whose territory is being invaded) can only use the troops placed within the territory for card battle duel.

-Types of territory

The Hamlet will produce a 500 troop card continuously at every round of the player until it reaches a maximum limit of 1000 troops. Therefore, resulting in two (500 troop) cards. However, player is only able to retrieve the troop card by getting back to that conquered territory.

Page 18: CTS Boardgame LOTR Documentation

players can place 5 troop cards, 3 skill cards and a hero card. The cards have to be placed neatly, so that conflicts and miscommunications can be prevented. The troop cards are to be placed in a row and the skill cards are also placed in a row behind the troop cards. If a player wants to place a hero card on the battlefield, he may do so by putting it beside the skill cards. After placing the cards, Players are required to throw the dice once. The player with the highest number gets to attack first or escape/run away from battle. ---However, these can all be ignored if the person has a chance card that allows him not to follow the rule. Next, if a player wishes to attack, he can do so and every attack is counted as a move. As the player attacks, he can attack his opponent’s troop cards that are shown or even covered. Once the player’s battlefield is lack of cards, he can add his cards and of course he has to use his moves in the round. Whenever a player has no longer got any cards on the battlefield, he has lost the game and will be out of the game.

Teleportation: Players get to teleport from any starting point to any starting point at the edges of the gameboard.

-Chance Card

When a player a reaches a point that is written 'C', it means that the player can draw a chance card. However, the player has to have certain conditions before taking a chance card. Two numbers are written and they are random. The player has to throw the dice, if the dice shows any of these two numbers, he can draw a chance card. Unfortunately, if the dice does not show any of these two numbers, he is not allowed to draw the chance card. For example, if the numbers 2 and 4 are written on it, the player has to throw the dice and match any of these two numbers in order to draw a chance. If the player does not get it, he is not allowed to throw the dice again in the next round. He has to leave and he could come back to the same point again after the round where he has left.

There are many types of Chance Cards such as Hero Cards, Magic Cards, Negative Cards

The Making Process Of The Mountain

Page 32: CTS Boardgame LOTR Documentation

Manila cards and aluminium foil are used to do the framework. After that, tissues and white glue (PVA Glue) are used to paste on the manila card. Then, the mountains are

left to dry.

Picture above here shows some of the paper mache mountain.

For the big mountain, the process of making is no different and is similar to that of the smaller mountains. At the later part, newspapers are used to paste around it before pasting tissues again.

Page 33: CTS Boardgame LOTR Documentation

The process here shows the combination of the big and small paper mache mountain.

The progress in the picture above here shows the completion when its’ about 50% done.

The overall view of the paper mache mountain.

Page 34: CTS Boardgame LOTR Documentation

The paper mache mountain was initially painted with different colours to match the surroundings.

However, it lacked the evil and mysterious feel which we want to bring to the game.

Therefore, we decided to paint it black and grey at the end to bring out the mysterious atmosphere.

The mountain shown above is painted with brown, green, grey and some mixture of colours. However, it lacked the atmosphere we would like it to produce.

The paper mache mountain painted in black after a long consideration.
