Thousands of years ago, the Jews escaped from Egypt.

But before they did, God supposedly warned them

that he would kill the firstborn of every household

that didn't have lamb's blood on their front door...

The Jews followed God's warning and thus their children were “Passed Over.”

So every year, Jews all over the world have a Passover Seder (or feast) to celebrate their escape from Egypt.

So, to recap, Jesus was celebrating Passover right before he was betrayed and then crucified. Then, three days later – on Easter Sunday – he rose from the dead and went to Heaven to hang out with his dad.

Today, many countries celebrate Easter in different

In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, men whip women playfully with a “pomlázka.”
