2. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Print product Our print product was inspired by three different print products and each slide we will talk about what we liked about the poster and what we used from it to our own print product and how we tweaked it a bit to suit our target audience 3. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? With the Mumford & sons print advert we used the idea of all the band being all together and can see whatinstruments they are playing . We also like the idea of different media industries leaving quotes about the therealbum so we also left quotes on from different media industries about The Fears. What we didnt really like aboutthis a print product was that there album is in the bottom left hand side (dead corner) really tiny as well andthought that audiences wont really pay much a attention to it and thought that the album should catch theaudiences attention and thats what we did. 4. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? With the 30 Seconds To Mars print product we liked the idea that you can clearly see the album so its easy forthe audience to know what the album looks like and can buy it. Also when the album will be releasedpublically. Also you can see what record label they are signed too so we made are our record label for TheFears and put the record label we created on are print product almost in the same place as the 30 Seconds ToMars. We did like the how it had a feel of a apoplectic look to it however we really couldnt do it to our printproduct because it would have challenged our audience expectations and wouldnt have suited it. 5. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Its almost the same story with the Ellie Goulding Print product they have used the album cover to help theaudience to know what the album looks like and they can buy it. It also uses critics reviews of the albumnear to the bottom so that it helps the audience know how good it is and can encourage people to buy it.They also have used image manipulation on the singer Ellie Gouldings hair to get it more eye-catching andhow the title says her name it matches her album cover as it says Lights its in lights. 6. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?Criticreviews/quotes Album coverBand members and cansee what instrumentsthey are playing also usedimage manipulation on Release daythem Record label Way to contactthe band 7. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? For the Mise-en-scene for the bandwe are using in ourmusic video they arejust basically innormal clothing. WeWe used this typedidnt want them toof typeface becausedress up for the it is clear , easy tomusic video or the read and suits theprint product so weprint product. Theallowed them toreason why we usecome in what evera white typefacethey wanted. For our was to make theband we wanted to words more bolder, put them on the clear and tofront of our printproduct so that the emphasize theaudience know whowords and to getand what the bandthe audienceslook like. attention. 8. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?Primary optical areaDead cornerTerminal areaDead corner 9. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Here is the front cover of the CD cover. We wanted to use something new and fresh mostly these days album covers try and be as eye-catching or odd or remember-able to get peoples attention or help them remember what the album looks like. so we also thought we have to be eye-catching and have something odd and be remember-able album cover to get peoples attention some examples of eye-catching and odd CD covers. 10. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? When you unfold the album cover it looks like thisBinds of theCD coverBack of thealbum coverwith tracks Front cover Of our DigipackInnercover withbandphotos. Record Label logoBarcode 11. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? This is Inside our album coverPictures of the bandCD goes herePictures of the bandThe reason why we did a 4 way split screen (on the left hand side) is because that on the musicvideo we did the split screen of the band and we thought by doing a 4 way split screen on thealbum cover would be iconic as it was one of the iconic moments in the music video. Also itcarries the link between each media product. (see next slide to see the comparisons). 12. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Inside our Album cover Music videoAs you can see here the comparison between the music videos 4 way split screen and inside thealbum covers 4 way split screen they look the same except there in different places within the 4way split screen and different lighting however the audience will recognise the 4 way splitscreen as they will have watched the music video and will easily notice this iconic-cal editingtechnique being transferred inside the album cover. 13. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? From our album cover we wanted it branch into the print product so we took the album coverand but it as the background on our print product so that fans or the audience know what thealbum looks like and can buy it as they have seen what the album looks like due to the album isin the back ground and is easily eye-catching . It is also conforming and subverting conventionsof print products. It conforms by showing the album cover to the audience but subverts as it hasthe band in front of the album cover. 14. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? The typeface of The Fears has been used continuously throughout our print products including our music video. The colour scheme for our main product and ancillary products are brown, white, black and red and have been used throughout our media product and ancillary products. The reason why we wanted to use this type of colour scheme is because its very unusual and will get the audiences attention and will make them intrigued into what the album is like. We have also done this due to the type of genre which is indie and we have conformed to the style of indie of which is being bold, eye catching, alluring and most importantly indie. This will help target our target audience and will make them want to buy the album. 15. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Here we have branched on covering another aspect ofpublicising the band by placing their album cover on at-shirt reason why we have done this is that it is verypopular that bands put there album cover on a t-shirtand we thought why dont we do that and here wehave done it. 16. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Here are some examples that bands have done placing there album cover on t-shirt. As you can see its a very popular thing to do these days thats the reason why we did this and its another media product that people buy. 17. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? In this shot its a long shot. With thistype of shot we can see everyone andthe background . This will help theaudience see where everyone is andwhat they are doing. The reason whywe use this type of shot is let theaudience see the whole band playingand see where they are playing. 18. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? In this shot we used a extreme close-up on the singer to see him sing and how he sings with his emotions so that it could be portrayed to the audience easily. e.g. Is he sad, angry, happy, confused etc With the extreme close up we are really focused on the singer. And what he is doing. What made us do this shot was due to the music video below it as we can see its a extreme close up on him and can see his emotions and how he sings. 19. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Here with both shots we used a long shot to imply to the audience isolation and loneliness. We also get to see the surroundings and where the character is. We got the idea to use this shot from music video below and thought it would be good to use in the music video and it helps represent the feelings of the character and thought it would be perfect to use when we go into the forest to film it. 20. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? In this shot we used a extreme longshot too get the crowd of people inthe shot and can see the audiencelistening to the music and dancing toit. Our inspiration of this shot camefrom the music video below. Wethought by using this shot andseeing the crowd and the bandplaying live would be good for theaudience as they can see what thecrowd of people are doing and whatthe band as well are doing. 21. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Here this is the bridge between our music video to ourprint product. As we can see the band playing live andcan see them all in the music video and they areplaying live throughout our music video we also havethem on the our print product playing live but are stillobviously because its a print product. But this is thelink between our music video and our print productand gives us brand identity. 22. 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?here is the link between all three media products. With the use ofour album cover that uses this constant theme. We used it in ourmusic video near to the start as the opening to introduce theaudience to the band with their album cover and what song theyare playing.
