Music videos always relate to the genre and genre

characteristics(such as stage performance in metal

songs)

Foo fighters- the pretender

This Music video is a good example of this due to its demonstration of the rock genre. The abandoned warehouse acts as a stage for their performance and the bold red back wall has various connotations such as danger and anger which relate to rock genre

There is a relation between lyrics and visuals

Noah and the whale- 5 years from now

This music video is a good example of the relation between lyrics and visual, which is visible in the still to the left as the lyrics state “sun, sun, sun” which is written at the bottom of the screen in a yellow font that matches the scouts outfits- essentially connoting sun.

At the bottom of everything- Bright eyes

Again this is another good example of the relation of lyrics and visual as the lyrics narrate the story of a plane crash and in the video this is evident as a cut out plane effectively crashes.

dance to the beat of the music.

This music video has various intertexual references to the 50’s, paticularly through

costume. In the still featured above Beyonce has made a direct reference to pin-up Betty

Page, through hairstyle and dance.
