DESCRIPTION

As a comedian and person of Japanese-American descent, I always loved haiku, especially the combination of brevity and imagination. In college, one of my haiku was published in my campus literary magazine. Since then, I had a soft spot in my heart for haiku next to my lifelong passion for the written word. Even before trying comedy, I tried injecting humor in anything I wrote: school work, blog posts, Facebook statuses, etc. The mixture of only-child syndrome and the social media boom during the 2000s (my high-school and college years) is very potent. I was inspired to publish haiku on Slideshare after discovering Leighann Lord and AltDef through the Connected Comedy podcast. After checking out her work, I realized PowerPoint was the perfect medium for haiku: visually appealing while encouraging minimalism. It's kismet. This first presentation is my first venture into these waters. I hope you like this enough to want me to return.
