What:Texas State Capitol Building

Where:1100 N Congress Ave

Why:Fun fact: This building has 900 windows, so no matter what angle you take your picture from, someone inside will probably see you take it.

What:Congress Bridge Bats (sunset)

Where:South Congress Bridge

Why:While you may not be able to snap a photo of the bats in action, you’re sure to get a great view of Congress Street and Lady Bird Lake at sunset.

What:Austin Postcard Mural

Where:1720 S 1st St

Why:Because if your friends and colleagues weren’t already aware you were in Austin from your two weeks of pretrip hype, out-of-office messages and countless Facebook check-ins at TexMex restaurants– this will for sure confirm you’re in the magical land we call Austin.

What:HOPE Outdoor Gallery

Where:1012 Baylor St

Why:This landmark is all about community and inspires it with continuously changing graffiti art. It’s a climb to get to but worth the effort.

Why:Feeling guilty that you left a loved one behind while you soak in the sun, eats and sounds of beautiful Austin? Ease your guilt while you grab a cup of coffee at Jo’s and send your favorite person a selfie in front of this mural.

What:“You’re My Butter Half “ Mural

Where:2000 E Martin Luther King Jr

Why:Austin has no short supply of street art, and this is a great one to snap a photo in front of if you’re sightseeing with your best friend, significant other or your four-legged fur baby.

What:Congress Street Guitar Statue

Where:4th and Congress

Why:Part of the Austin GuitarTown Project, these 10-foot Gibson guitar statues can be found around town. And it’s a good excuse to use #musiccapitaloftheworld on your Instagram.

What: “Hi, How Are You” Mural

Where:408 West 21st Street

Why:Daniel Johnston is awesome, and so is this mural of Jeremiah The Innocent from his 1983 album Hi, How Are You, so be sure to stop by and stand in the shadow of its glory while a friend snaps a photo.
