Visual Brand identity and the Importance of Design
Visual identity has always been a part of branding. Besides a set of values and belief system
that every brand is associated with there is a visual appeal that every brand needs to have. A
visual appeal elicits proper response which is why visual brand identity plays an important role
in today’s media scenario.
Visual brand appeal is part of a visual brand language. Brand language evolves with time so do
their visual brand identity. It is a language every brand speaks. Logos of some very leading
brands have undergone a change right from their inception so have their brand values that they
have been along associated with.
Visual brand language is the fad
today and companies are investing
on visual brand identity more than
ever before. A brand appoints
artists of and agencies of
international repute to enhance
their visual brand identity.
There is a lot about design
associated with the brand
language. We are living in a world
where people prefer well designed
products. Design has become a
trend setter of sorts. Worldwide design templates have undergone a sea change in
manufacturing, retail, construction and web design. While brands began to set design trends,
most of what we own today is defined by its design. Modern Technologies assist people to use
more modified designs.
Brands become personified today not by the mere intangible value their logos, but the tangible
designs that their products have to offer. A mobile phone without the latest design or a car
without a well designed exterior and interior may be of good use, but it may not have a premium
value of comfort or quality attached to it.
Visual brand identity has become an extension of our persona, and which is why brands
we use speak more about us today. A company invests today more on the visual appeal
and on a consistent visual style.
A particular color, a particular logo design, an animal all elicits responses in us that are unique.
While the medium may be across platforms of print, broadcast and the web, companies realize
that design and visual communication speak for itself unlike the old world philosophy where
design meant less.
A new order of communication is here, and companies
today cater to various audiences advertising through web,
print and Television, Radio.
With retail therapy becoming a norm for today’s world,
companies want to offer visual appeal through a
consistent design, by using the appropriate typography
and using the right logos. Therefore, Companies are
cashing in on the milk cow of the current craze for design
and launching well designed products that that are made
to suit the tastes of the market.
It doesn’t look like the trend is to die out soon; rather these companies will drive on innovation.
