What is the difference between Web Drama and Normal TV Dramas?

-Web Dramas are less restricted to normal TV dramas and tend to not be as realist like TV dramas. -TV dramas are more realistic and relatable whereas Web dramas are anti realist and ‘make believe’. -Web drama can be left feedback by the viewer other than TV drama where they're just discussed between

themselves. The creators and unable to receive feedback. -Web television is normally shown on popular websites such as YouTube and other video sharing sites. TV

Dramas are shown differently and are broadcasted at certain times on specific channels rather than always being available.

-If not on the popular cable TV channels then not everyone is able to view the drama, whereas web dramas are more than likely to be viewed as most people have a internet connection on either their phones on in their homes on computers.

-Web Television requires virtually no investment to start so there is more of a variety and quantity of dramas to view than on TV that have to be approved and have to be created by amateur video producers.

Narratives in Web Dramas

The word "story" may be used as a synonym of "narrative". It can also be used to refer to the sequence of events described in a narrative. Each Web drama has its own structure and show

a narrative within here are some examples that are use in Web dramas. -Linear: Follows chronologically from beginning to end. -Non-Linear: A non-linear narrative is one which is composed with a branching structure

where a single starting point may lead to multiple developments and outcomes. -Flashback: A flashback is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back in time from the

current point the story has reached. -Realist: Are stories that portray characters and settings that could exist in real life, as well as

events that could happen in real life -Anti-Realist: Is something is not relatable and wouldn’t happen in every day life. -Open ending: The ending is unrevealed and include a cliffhanger or nail biter instead, where

the readers left to discover what happens next. -Closed ending: A closed ending is an ending to a story or novel where all of the details are

wrapped up and leave the reader knowing how it ends.

Conventions of a Web drama TIME: dramas tend to be around 6-10 minutes long for each episode. CHARACTERS: the characters used tend to be unknown and not famous actors. SERIES: continuous storyline that doesn’t end in each episode leading you to watch the next and the finale

that reveals the answers. CLIFFHANGER: after every episode expect the last they tend to show a cliffhanger to make you want to

know what happens next and watch the next episode.

The Power Inside Neil, a seemingly normal 20-something, is stuck in a dead-end job and going nowhere in life. Everything changes when a

race of planet-destroying moustache aliens needs something inside Neil to help them destroy Earth. Audience members participate by auditioning to join the aliens or the Guardians — a group of highly skilled straight razor-wielding barbers. The story unfolds online, with added content and character interactions on Facebook happening in between episodes.

-Non Linear structure, as the story was unrevealed to lead on to the next episode however ended with an open ending. -Sci-Fi. -Comedy. -Anti Realist with the use of moustache aliens. -Main character: Neil. -The cast is mostly young attracting to the young teenage target audience. -Consists of six episodes. -Romance. -Use of technology. -Open ending as it was left you questioning what happens next and the story was left uncompleted. -Follows the conventions of a film and how it is edited due to being funded by a well known companies, which are Intel

and Toshiba.

Geek Love -Romance genre -Documentary based with each episode based on a different storyline and main character. -Each episode has a main character for instance episode one is based on a boy names Alex. -Comics is the main feature as they are all interested in being ‘comic geeks’ - Its based on dating, they turn to Ryan Glitch, founder of Sci-Fi speed dating. He sets up speed dating sessions

at events such as Comic-Con, bringing people together to embrace their oddity and find love. - It’s a documentary series based around real people and their real life stories, making it also realist as the

audience can relate.

Emma approved

-Documentary style with a non – linear structure as there a obstacles in her match making. -Following the foot steps of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, with the unusual cast, social media presence and enthusiastic

episodes creators Bernie Su and Hank Green produced Emma approved taking on Jane Austen's Pride and prejudice characters. Emma features the well known story of the young lady who believes she is an excellent matchmaker but as expected there are some twists.

-There are 25 episodes and each episode is her recording of her channel, so we view how we view it as though we are the audience, which makes it more interesting to other web series.

-There is little character casting within, Emma and her husband featuring in all episodes however.
