COYOTES

APPEARANCE

The coyote has grayish brown and yellowish gray eyes. They have yellow eyes and a black nose. The coyote has long legs.

Habitat

The coyotes live in sagebrush, in the woodlands, on the prairies, in deserts, oak savannahs, subalpine forests, alpine meadows, open ponderosa pine forests, and temperate rainforests.

DIET

Coyotes like to eat meat, fruit, grains and bugs. Coyotes main diet is mice. They may take up to 30 minutes to find their prey! They will play with their prey.

Babies

The coyote has its babies February to March. The females build dens for preparation for their young. Females have a period of 63 days to give birth to 12 young cubs at once. Groups of babies are called litters. The pups play tag when their board.

INTERESTING FACTS!

Coyotes are members of the canine family. Coyotes are fast creatures. They can run 64 kilometers an hour. Males can travel up to 100 miles to find food when there are too many coyotes living together.
