Why does it resonate for you?Ensuring Environmental
Sustainability resonates with me because I am greatly concerned
about the use of earths non-renewable resources.Furthermore, it is
not only the use of non-renewable resources but also human caused
pollution which impacts our environment that resonates with me when
it comes to ensuring environmental sustainability. However,
ensuring environmental sustainability has greatly resonated with me
primarily because not only do I want to live in a healthy
environment but I want to make sure that generations to come have a
better quality of life.
How can your interest be applied locally?My interest may be
applied locally by attending a certified Green Event around the
Tacoma Areavolunteering at Healthy Homes, Healthy Neighborhoods
which specializes in efforts to reduce waste and improve water and
air qualityeducating others of City programs and

Where can you make the greatest contribution?First and foremost,
I can make the greatest contribution in my local community.Every
journey starts with a single step. Lao TzeThis means that my
greatest contribution begins with my daily decisions. During the
last two years, my household has significantly reduced the amount
of waste from 60 to 30 gallons a month. Furthermore, total monthly
fuel expenses decreased from $120/month to $50/month. These small
actions by no means decrease the quality of life but instead have
enhanced our quality of life.We will not be able to reach the
masses if our actions are not seen and heard locally. We make
contributions to ensuring environmental sustainability with every
decision that we make.
Is there a feature of social media that can be uniquely applied
to this goal?Social media has change the way we share and receive
information. Therefore, social media has significant opportunities
to reach a large audience. One main feature of social media is the
ability to share our success in terms of environmental
sustainability. This will allow others to not only learn but get
inspired to find local organizations or events that help provide
environmental sustainability. For example, sharing a video on
Facebook or LinkedIn has the opportunity to not only join existing
networks but also diversify efforts in ensuring environmental
sustainability.
