1 SELF AUTOMATED POLLUTION MONITORING AND ADVANCED WARNING SYSTEM FOR MOTOR VEHICLES ABSTRACT Vehicles and Industries are one of the major sources of Environmental Pollution. Detection and Controlling of toxic gasses from the vehicles are significant to reduce Air Pollution. The semiconductor sensor at the emission outlet of a vehicle will sense the level of pollutants and inform this level to the Microcontroller (ATMEGA 328). When the pollution or emission level shoots beyond the preset threshold level then the message of detection is forwarded to both user and RTO as well as there will be a buzzer in the vehicle that starts buzzing to indicate that the limit has been breached and the information of the detection is forwarded to both the user and the RTO office. Once the information of the detection is forwarded to both the ends (i.e. User and RTO), the user is given 5 days to repair the vehicle and bring down the parameters under the recommended values.If no actyion is taken within the given time, the vehicle stops running. By the implementation of this project as real time will help to control the air pollution. INTRODUCTION

One of the major concerns regarding the environment is air pollution. Air pollution is addition of any harmful gaseous to the atmosphere, which causes the damaging of the environment, human health on quality of life in urban area that can endanger the health of human beings, plants, animals, or damage materials reduce visibility or release undesirable odors. one of the great problems faced in urban areas throughout the world is the increase in vehicles due to imbalance between the public transport and the increase in population, mobility and last mile connectivity. This increase in the number of vehicles has lead to increase in congestion and the increase in pollution by the private vehicles. Transportation is one of the major activity of economic activity and it is beneficial for the social interactions. While the transportation sector is also a major source of air pollution through out the world, estimated to account for nearly all of carbon monoxide (CO), more than 80% of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The growing problems related to traffic are congestion, accidents, pollution and lacks of security are also very worrisome. The key question is how to reduce the adverse environmental impacts and other negative effects of transportation without giving up the benefits of transportation.

PROPOSED SYSTEM

Embedded Control to Indicate the Air & Sound Pollution with speed tracker :

Control and monitoring of the air and sound pollution is by the service of the vehicle which is provided with the help of Micro controller and the detected information of the beyond standardized pollutant level will be forwarded to the user and RTO via GSM. Then the user of vehicle gets a message of booked vehicle’s data and RTO gives a chance to repair the vehicle by locating the nearby service centers.the validity of this period is set to 5 days. If the user ignored the message then the engine of the vehicle will come into the cut-off condition and the user unable to start the vehicle.The speed tracker device works with the same principle of using GSM module to report to the RTO of the exceeding speed limit and thereby determine the fine.sound sensor detects the present sound level of the vehicle and reduces the voltage to the horn,hence controlling the sound via microcontroll.Figure shows the functional block of the proposed system using AURDUINO UNO with Atmega 328 microcontroller.

ADVANTAGES OF THIS PROJECT

1. Low cost self monitoring facility of pollutants.2. Pollution test is performed only when required 3. It compels the user to perform the test and keeping the vehicle pollution free.4. Applicable to both 2 and 4 wheelers with some modifications5. keeps the sound undercheck and thereby reducing noise pollution6. It keeps a check on speed of the vehicle and reports to the hereby dertermining the fine and

reducing the accidents due to overspeeding.7. RTO has a control over the smooth performance of the vehicle8. Continous check of the vehicle improves its efficiency and milage.
