CEO FIGHTS HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Introduction

Chairman and CEO Benoy Berry leads Contec Global, an organization devoted to biometrics, the use of technology to identify people by fingerprints or face recognition. Benoy Berry is also a philanthropist who supports groups that combat human trafficking.

Berry has been lauded for his patronage of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign (NAHTC), based in Abuja, Nigeria. A Contec official who accepted the award on Berry's behalf said the honor coincided with the CEO's values of social justice, personal dignity, and gender equality. Contec has become known for its commitment to humanitarian efforts throughout Nigeria.

Human Trafficking

The national coordinator of NAHTC noted that Berry signed on with the project the first time it was presented to him. He was motivated to respond immediately because he had seen the damage caused by human trafficking and child abuse. The NAHTC sought partnerships for the campaign with more than 25 other top executives, but all except Berry turned the organization down.
