Chhattisgarh Development

For the infrastructure development in Chhattisgarh, MoUs worth Rs 24,000

crore were signed at Dantewada .

From railway lines to steel plants and pipelines, the MoUs are meant to

enhance development of the state.

List of the MoUs that were signed with the purpose of Chhattisgarh development:• MoU between Government of Chhattisgarh, NMDC, IRCON and

SAIL for 140 km rail line between Rowghat and Jagdalpur. • MoU between Ministry of Steel, Government of Chhattisgarh,

SAIL and NMDC for 3 million ton Ultra Mega Steel Plant with an investment of approximately Rs 18,000 crore.

• MoU between Government of Chhattisgarh and NMDC for Slurry Pipeline and 2MTPA Pellet Plant at Nagarnar in Bastar District with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore.

• MoU between Government of Chhattisgarh and SAIL for setting up 1MTPA Pellet Plant at Dalli-Rajhara, Balod District.

The 140-km rail link, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 24,000 crore, will connect Bastar region with important cities of the state like

Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg. It will help in easy and cheaper transportation of iron ore

for industries.

Over 10,000 people in the region can easily get direct and indirect employment opportunities

through the ultra-mega steel plant project.

State-owned iron ore miner NMDC has entered into a pact with Steel Ministry, Chhattisgarh Government and SAIL for setting up an ultra-mega steel plant at

Bastar.

NMDC, a navratna PSE under the Ministry of Steel has signed the following MoUs

(Memorandum of Understandings) which includes the setting up of ultra-mega steel plant in Bastar region (Ministry of Steel, Government of Chhattisgarh, SAIL and

NMDC).

Another pact has also been signed between Chhattisgarh government, SAIL, NMDC and IRCON for the development of railway line from

Jagdalpur to Rowghat.

Another MoU with the aim of Chhattisgarh development is signed

by Chhattisgarh government and NMDC for setting up of slurry

pipeline and pellet plant.

During his visit to the state, the Prime minister of India Shri Narendra Modi said that there will

be no block in the stages of Chhattisgarh development even though there is huge violence in the naxal affected areas. It will enhance the

socio-economic development in the state.

The project of building up a livelihood college for the youth of Dantewada and the Education City,

spread across over 100 acres and built at a cost of approximately Rs.120 crore. It is estimated to serve

some 5,000 most deprived children of the region annually by providing them quality education.

Dantewada in tribal Bastar region is rich in mineral, especially iron ore. Therefore there is

a need for the maximum utilisation of this place.
