The cover is quite a conventional Kings of Leon image, with them belonging to the indie genre, we can expect quite artistic images and covers. The first thing I notice when looking at this poster is the colour scheme, though there are a few bold colours featured such a blue and red, the saturation is quite low, making the colours pop just the right amount, without taking over the rest of the poster. Digipak analysis: Album AdvertOnly by the night is the fourth studio album released by Kings of Leon in 2008. The font of the text is quite nostalgic as it resembles font from earlier computers, which we associate with older technology, this could connote that their music from this record could also include older elements from their previous albums and songs. Including the titles of their most popular songs on the poster is quite a smart strategy as it may attract another audience to the album.

The title of the album ‘only by the night’ is emphasised subtly on the cover art for it, as we notice the eyes of a bird in the middle of the image which seem to resemble and owl, a night animal. I really like the technique they have used to incorporate all of the members into the poster by adding specific features of their face. The lead singer, Caleb Followill’s top half of his face is shown as he is the member people tend to recognise the most due to his status in the band. What makes this image so interesting and intriguing is the way in which they’ve structured the placement of the images and the facial expressions of the men, making the image work perfectly. Another element of nostalgia is added to the cover with the tiny camera elements in the corner of the images, emphasising the tone and theme that the band are attempting to stick to with this new album.
