VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES

Goodwill Industries International, Inc. give support to United States Veterans and their families through various aspects of their service to their respective countries. They provide skills and job training, and also keep the veteran, and his/her family connected to their respective communities.

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES SUPPORTS ITS VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES

• Various Programs Available to Veterans and Military Families:

• “Operation: GoodJobs” (Funded by Wal-Mart Foundation) - Provides veterans, and military families the resources to find employment, advance in careers and ensure long-term financial stability.

• How to Sell Your Military Leadership and Skills to Employers – This program gives veterans and military families training on how to successfully get an employer to focus on core key attributes they learned in the military, and how to make the military experience work to their advantage.

• Goodwill Website provides links for all Veterans and Military Families – Offering links to various services for work resources, education, housing and health care.

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES SUPPORTS ITS VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIESThere are two challenges for Goodwill in its efforts to provide services, worldwide to Veterans and Military Families.

The first is geographical constraints. Goodwill is not directly implemented in many countries across the world. This, in turn, limits the availability of programs to more rural regions of the world.

The second challenge is that each Goodwill is an independent organization, and is governed by a voluntary board of directors. When developing programs and services for veterans and military families, each respective Goodwill organization considers the distinctive social and economic environment to determine which services will best allow community members to better support their families, and build better communities altogether

Goodwill is rare, in that it truly does not discriminate for color, sex, or race. It’s only deterrent is lack of funding. Working as a community, together, only success can be accomplished.
