Neo-conservatism

Neoconservatism (commonly shortened to neocon) is a political movement born in the United States during the 1960s among Democrats who became disenchanted with the party's domestic and especially foreign policy. 

 Neoconservatives peaked in influence during the administrations of George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, when they played a major role in promoting and planning the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The 9/11 attacks was replaced by both dissent and resentment and Bush administration launched a preventive war against Iraq.

The influence of neoconservatives and their foreign policy ideas on Bush administration.

The Neoconservative ideas were important in the US decision to launch a preventive war against Iraq.

Neoconservative foreign policy thought emphasizes the moral necessity of distinguishing between :

Moral Clarity

For neoconservatives , morality and interest rate are conjoined in US diplomacy : it`s right and in the interest of the USA to act against regimes whose values and actions it considers morally abhorrent.

Military pre-eminence

Means that the US should enjoy both strategic and ideological predominance in the world.

The Neoconservatives implicit theory on international relations is based on preponderance of power rather than balance of power.

The Leverage of Military power

USA should leverage its military power , be willing to use military force to pursue it`s foreign policy goals.

Distrust of international law

The one part of neoconservatives has deep scepticism about the ability of international law and institutions to bring about peace and justice in the world.

Institutions like Criminal court and the United Nations are seen by neoconservatives as mechanism used by weaker powers to tie down the USA.
