Darwin Ship Lift and Marine Industry Project

On 15 August 2016, the Northern Territory (NT) Government announced that Pearl Marine Engineering had been selected as the preferred proponent to enter a negotiation phase for the Darwin Ship Lift and Marine Industries (SLAMI) Project.

The SLAMI Project aims to provide a ship lift and common user facility which will cater for both wet and dry dock ship maintenance and support Darwin’s position as a growing logistics and marine services hub.

The SLAMI Project will be underpinned by a statutory access and pricing access regime which will ensure that a truly open access, common user facility model is achieved. The statutory regime will be regulated by the Utilities Commissioner.
