Socio-cultural training and research centre-Pwani universityThe centre will provide training and advance research on social and cultural practices of diverse
communities in Kenya and the world. In Kenya the 42 cultures will have to be promoted and the
understanding of one’s culture and believes by other culture can promote coexistence,
cooperation and development.
AIMTo promote peace and prosperity through training of students across cultures about other
cultures to foster cohesion and understanding for more responsible and inclusive society.
ACTIVITIES1.Teaching students new language depending on their passion to make them understand the
culture that comes with the laguage.Students can teach one another about their culture, or a
tutor can be hired to lecture on the selected language for example in 42 cultures in Kenya ,
volunteers on every culture can create awareness about their culture within the university by
teaching others about their culture.
2. Incorporate locals on socio-cultural understanding, indigenous and local residents to be
integrated in intercultural development, where though local leaders they select elders with
knowledge about their culture to present in the university even once per week.
3.The university to provide documentaries, literature on intercultural
dialoque,undertanding ,peace and prosperity. These knowledge to be learnt on social media and
the use of new technology to enhance development of students-youths who are the next
generation in leadership
4.Initiate dialogue and debate among students of different cultures in the university. It can be
inform discussion to make others understand what is unique in the culture or tribe or trace as
well as region.
5.Capacity building and to also create a awareness and campaign within the compass on the strengths in terms of development in diverse cultures. It can updates on social media and online contribution as campaigns. It can also be integrated in the curriculum across the programmes to make it reach as many students and people as possible.
NEW STRATEGY1.The idea on intercultural development, understanding for peace and prosperity has not been
given a focal concern in Kenyan universities and colleges. Therefore the new idea can be
adopted to enhance understanding among 42 cultures in Kenya to promote peace and reduce
cultural clashes.
2.Through incorporating locals and indigenous people around the university to expand cultural
understanding among the students and between students and the communities is of a greater
concern for Kenyan citizens for understanding in every sphere of development.
3.Through documentaries and online learning students can as well learn the cultures at
international level, that leads international cooperation for peace and prosperity.
HOW TO USE THE SUPPORT FROM UNAOC AND BMW GROUP.1.The support will help the university to expand its infrastructure for more students to get space
and facilities for learning in the university, the resources will also motivate lecturers since they
will not stain in providing information on intercultural understanding for peace and prosperity.
2.The support can help in providing incentives to the locals who are volunteering in intercultural
campaigns and capacity building to students and lecturers. This will enhance sustainability of the
project.
3.The support can also make the project to replicated to other universities in Kenya and the
world.

Increase enjoyment and protection of fundamental freedoms and rights of humanity
Broaden Kenyan’s participation to the global governance.
