IRISS  is  a  third  sector  organisa:on  promo:ng  posi:ve  outcomes  for  the  people  supported  by  Scotland’s  social  services.        The  vision  of  IRISS  is  for  effec:ve  support  for  people  in  Scotland,  created  through  par:cipa:on  and  partnership.

Who  are  we?

Our  themes

We work toward these outcomes:

Embed  a  culture  of  collabora:on,  open  to  new  ideas    Ensure  everyone  has  the  knowledge,  tools  and  skills  to  effec:vely  use  evidence  and  to  innovate    Place  people  at  the  centre  of  the  design  of  services  and  support

We  focus  on  three  key  areas

storytelling  ;  data  ;  analysis  ;  design  ;  improvement  ;  community  mee:ngs  ;  councils  ;  problem  solving;  labs  ;  workshops;  interviews  ;  case  studies  ;  asset  mapping  ;  ac:on  research  ;  training  ;  planning  ;  experimenta:on  ;  evalua:on  ;  sharing  ;  documen:ng  ;  media  ;  technology

Guiding  principles

give  a  voice  to  all  involved  model  a  culture  of  collabora:ve  working  promote  par:cipa:ve  approaches  work  locally  to  be  close  to  complexity  and  solu:ons  shared  project,  not  IRISS  led

- and that’s how we got to be in this room together today…

Limita:ons

we  can  be  involved  for  up  to  three  years

we  bring  ourselves  and  our  :me  –  not  funding

we  will  facilitate,  support  and  enable  –  but  we  can’t  run  the  project  alone

The  approach  is  based  on  openness  –  any  approaches/solu:ons  are  for  anyone  to  own

•  Each  person  will  speak  un-‐interrupted  for  three  minutes

•  Listeners  will  offer  a  ‘gi_’  of  a  ques:on  on  a  piece  of  paper

•  Don’t  look  at  your  ques:on  un:l  everyone  has  had  a  go  as  speaker

What  can  we  achieve  together?

CA  gives  us  a  pathway

And  six  steps  to  follow

CA  =  Six  steps  1.  Define  the  issue  and  create  a  cause/effect  ques:on  2.  Develop  a  theory  of  change/logic  model  and  the  risks  to  its  success  3.  Generate  evidence  4.  Write  a  ‘contribu:on  story’    5.  Test  the  story  and  collect  more  evidence  6.  Revise  strengthen  and  share

We’ve  built  our  own  approach  to  CA
