1. If he is face-down, support his head and neck and roll him over so that he is face-up and his back is straight

2. Tilt the baby’s head back slightly and lift his chin

3. See if the infant is breathing. Act quickly—check for no more than 10 seconds

4. Remember that intermittent gasps are not a sign that the baby is breathing regularly
