Study on IL, HIL and HL is important due to -
Information Literacy is the ability to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information (ALA 1989)

Literature search on Google Scholar and PubMed was conducted to find relevant papers on IL, HIL and HL especially those related to India were studied

It was found that there are several studies on IL,HIL and HL from developed countries and few studies are available from India

Conclusion
• Librarians play an important role in designing and teaching IL,HIL and HL based courses
• There is a need to conduct IL, HIL and HL based assessment study at various levels to improve the competency level of people in our country

Such studies will help to identify areas where improvement in practices would be beneficial and will enable to set out a course of action to improve the competency level of our people
