2. past perfect and its usage:1) To express an activity that was complete before another activity or time in the pastSam arrived at 10:00. Ann left at 9:30. In other words, Ann had already left when sam arrived. Mary had read the book before she watched a film. 3. Affirmative statement To make an Affirmative past perfect statement, simply follow this pattern: Subject+had+Past participle Regular verbs: I/you/he/she/it/we/they had played hockey. Irregular Verbs: I/you/he/she/it/we/they had gone home. 4. Negative statementTo make a negative past perfect statement, simply follow the following pattern:Subject+had+not+Past participle Regular verb:I/you/he/she/it/we/they had not played hockey. Irregular Verb: I/you/he/she/it/we/they had not gone home. 5. Question To make a question in the past perfect, simply follow the following pattern:Had+subject+Past participle Regular verb:Had I/you/he/she/it/we/they played hockey? Irregular Verb: Had I/you/he/she/it/we/they gone home? 6. Exercise: Make sentences in past perfect tense.
