Intent to Contribute Statement:

Purpose: The purpose of the project is to assist Home Care leadership to be more aware of the importance of self-

care and the impact that this mindful practice has ultimately on patient care.

Project Description: I plan to create a series of Caritas experiences for the Home Care leadership that will help to

experientially teach some of the Caritas Processes™, particularly Caritas Process™ #1, Practicing loving-kindness and

equanimity for self and other. I plan to provide 3-4 experiential exercises designed to help each leader be more self

reflective, find a sustainable self care practice, and be in a better position to model self-care for their staff. I also

plan to encourage them to be self-reflective and to keep a journal during this time. I am giving each participant a

journal to facilitate this process.

We will meet in person as a group, and we will have some sessions through WebEx technology. I will also use an

email and/or conference call process in between meetings to help everyone stay connected and encouraged.

Projected Outcome: It is projected that nursing leaders will enjoy the practice of self-care, and that it will become a

part of their daily activity. Coupled with journaling and other reflective exercises, it is the intent of this project that

each participant will experience a shifting of consciousness, a connection to heart resulting in a better, authentic

position from which to lead their staff. Hopefully, the Home Care leaders will also experience more personal

happiness and satisfaction in their positions.
