Objectives

• Describe the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) and its goals.

• Highlight NDEP offerings for worksites, communities and others in recognition of National Diabetes Month

• Discuss NDEP’s efforts to focus on behavior change in the development of resources targeting diabetes prevention and management.

• Discuss opportunities for/benefits of collaboration

• WHO estimates that more than 346 million

people worldwide have diabetes more

than double by 2030 without intervention

• 1 in 3 U.S. adults could have diabetes by 2050

if current trends continue

• Seeks to reduce the burden of diabetes in the U.S. by: – Facilitating adoption of proven approaches to prevent or

delay the onset and progression of diabetes and its complications.
