ESMO Young Oncologists Committee
Objectives and project stagesObjectives and project stages
YOC has embarked on this project aiming to promote ESMO’s activities for young oncologists and possibly enlarge its membership base.
The survey is supposed to be submitted in two separate stages. The first step is to gather as many young oncologists’ contacts throughout Europe as possible. The idea was to channel this drive through the National Representative Committee in order to gather contact details and some profiling of young oncologists in Europe.
Once a critical mass of contacts will be reached, then the second part of the project shall be implemented. At this stage, young oncologists will be polled on their status of being a young oncology in their country and asked to submit proposal for cooperation with ESMO.

Further Comments Further Comments
ESMO initiatives dedicated to Young Oncologists are highly beneficial and promote earlier and better involvement of YO’s in the ESMO activities
the needs of YO’s from developing countries differ greatly from other country and should be addressed differently in terms of support to individual YO’s
in some countries, lack of recognition either for medical oncology as specialty or the need for training makes it difficult to have information about and participate to scientific meetings, for YO’s especially
initiatives dedicated to young oncologists which take place outside the frame of the ESMO Congress should be more sponsored among YO’s because a large number of people do not even know the existence of these programs.
every young oncologist during his/her specialization course should participate to these initiatives.
