Getting a spa treatment is one of the most relaxing things you can do for your mind and body. There are many types of treatments that most people have no idea exist. There are some for relaxing and others for pain and headaches. Other treatments combine many different techniques for overall health. Massage A massage treatment can include various different methods. There are Swedish Massages, which involved soft kneading and round movements to work out stressed or knotted muscles. A Deep Tissue massage is for those that have chronic sore or overexerted muscles. This massage will help loosen the muscles and increase flexibility. Hot Stone Massage A Hot Stone Massage is when hot stones are placed on your body to help loosen tight muscles. It warms the body and helps circulation and eases stiff muscles. This is usually a Swedish massage with the addition of the hot stones. Make sure to let your masseuse know if the stones are too hot. Facials Facials help restore balance in your skin and are used to exfoliate pores. Some facials will target blemishes, others are focused on hydrated the skin. The most common facial is the European Facial, that includes deep-cleansing and hydrating the face. Some facial are specifically designed for men and irritated skin from shaving. Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion is another type of facial but is specially designed to exfoliate with the intention of minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. The end result is smooth and healthy skin. Acupuncture/Acupressure People who receive acupuncture treatments are usually looking for pain relief and to treat certain health conditions. The idea behind acupuncture is that it helps the flow of the energy throughout the body by inserting fine needles into particular areas of the body where pain is present. Acupressure is similar, except instead of needles, it involved finger placement. Aromatherapy Aromatherapy is combined with many of the previous treatments. Highly concentrated essential oils extracted from plants are placed on the body or around the body and when the smell is inhaled, it can stimulate the nervous system to the part of the brain that controls feelings. It helps with anxiety and depression.
