Breaking myths about purification of water

• Purification of water is one such thing that can not be and should not be neglected.

• However, India has been a little too casual when it comes to having pure and clean water for drinking.

• Since then, there have been many different techniques built to purify water and many speculations have been made on the same.

• Following slides highlight a few myths about water purification and its importance.

Myth #1- Boiling in enough

• One of the most common myth.• After a boil of minimum 20 minutes, the

disease causing bacteria and viruses are eliminated.

• Stands ineffective against chemicals, chlorine content and cysts.

• After boiling, if left for cooling down, it’s prone to further recontamination by bacteria.

Myth #2- Water purifiers are false claimers

• According to many, water purifiers are just fancy money laundering agents and have no use.

• Whereas, this perception could be gravely wrong.• Water purifiers certainly have a cleansing and

purifying effect on water and make it fit for drinking purpose.

• All that is needed is, to make sure the technology used in the appliance is appropriate and effective.

Myth #3- RO is the only need

• Reverse osmosis is a scientific and yet in trend technology in water purification.

• It allows water to pass through a semi-permeable membrane, allowing clean water to pass through and leaving behind the dissolved solvents and impurities.

• However, only RO technology cannot accomplish the desire of having pure and clean water.

• RO has a disadvantage that it eliminates the much needed essential minerals of the water.

Myth #4- Essential minerals of water cannot be retained

• As the essential minerals of water count in the dissolved solvents of water, which is eliminated by RO technology.

• Many have this perception that water purifiers cannot retain the needed minerals of water.
