WHAT IS ELECTRONIC TATTOO? Stretchable , ultrathin electronic patch Forms human-machine interfaces Small ,flexible circuit device Sticks comfortably to skin as temporary tattoo

Page 5: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

HISTORY

• Rogers Research group at the university of illionois at urban –campaign has given us stick-on electronic tattoos

Page 6: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

TRADITION APPROACH• EES technology came in 1929• Bulk electrodes were mounted on skin via tapes, strapes etc• Circuit boards, power supplies and communication system are

basic parts• Poorly suited for practical application outside lab

Page 7: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

CONSTRUCTION:• Circuit is made of sillicon• Circuit has filamentary serpentine shape• It allows them to bend, twist, scrunch and stretch• Approximate dimensions of tattoo circuit

2.1cm*3.1*5microns

THREE STATES OF EES

Multifunctional EES onskin: unreformed(left),

compressed(middle),

stretched(right)

Page 10: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

SLAPPING OF ELECTRONIC TATTOO• Vandewalls interaction allows the tattoo to stick on to the skin• Allows the tattoo to stay in position without any glue• As the vanderwall forces are weak it can be removed easily

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL OPERATIONS

Electroencephalograms(EEGS) Electrocardiograms(ECGS)

Electromyograms(EMGS) Stimulated computer

game control via neck EMG measured by EES

Multifunctional operation

COMPUTER GAMES CONTROLLING• it performs voice controlled video games with 90% accuracy• With a tatto attached to throat• It can transform commmands like up down left right stop go

Page 16: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

DUARABILTY TEST

• A EES is mounted on cheek and elbow for upto 24 hours and to verify compatibility

• It remained intact and no redness or inflamation was observed even after subject had lunch

• But tattoo attached to elbow will be cracked with in 8 hours

Page 17: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

APPLICATIONS

• Controls computer games• Monitors brain signals,heart-attacks & muscle

movements• In millitary operations• Health of prematured babies

Page 18: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

ADVANTAGES

• Light weight• Small in volume• Measures electropsychological signals• No mechanical visibility• No itching or irritation• Easily removed

Page 19: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

DISADVANTAGES

• Continuous emition of dead cells doesnot take place

• Transpiration doesn’t take properly

Page 20: ELECTRONIC TATTOO

IN FUTURE

• We might interact with smartphones and computers simply by using our minds

• We may turn on lights in home just by thinking about it
