INTRODUCTION Sigmund Freud(1856-1939) an

Austrian neurologist was the founder of psychodynamic approach. This school of thought emphasizes the influence of the unconscious mind on behaviour. Freud believed that the human mind was composed of the three elements; the id, the ego and the superego.

Psychoanalysis is the” branch of psychology focused on treating mental disorders by the recognising the relationship between the conscious and unconscious mind.”

BASIC TENETS OF PSYCHOANALYSIS:

People behave is largely influenced by their unconscious drives.

Freud says that personality was largely set in stone by age of five.

Information from unconscious to conscious can lead to catharsis and people deal with issue.

Defence mechanism occur to protect themselves from information contained in the unconscious.

Emotional and psychological problems such as anxiety and depressions often rooted conflict between conscious and unconscious mind.

CONSCIOUS AND UNCONSCIOUS MIND Unconscious mind are the outside of

conscious mind where it includes early childhood memories, secret diaries and hidden drive. According to Freud it contains things that may be socially unacceptable or unpleasant because it might create pain or conflict.

Conscious mind includes everything that is inside of our awareness. The contents of the conscious mind are the we are aware of or can easily bring into awareness.

THE ID , EGO AND SUPEREGO ID:-He composed the there elements of personality.

The id contains all of the emerge is known as the id.it contains all of the unconsciousness, basic and primal urges.

EGO:-It deals with demand of reality. It helps to control urges of the id and makes us to behave in both realistic and acceptable way.it forces us to fulfil our needs which are also realistic and acceptable. Ego helps strike a balance between our basic urges.

SUPEREGO:-it contains our deals and values. The values and belief that our parents and society, which are the guiding force of the superego. It makes us to behave according o morals.
