People aspire to rise up the career ladder quickly but it is said that faster you rise faster you can fall

However here are few symptoms that you must notice when things go wrong and your job may be at risk

You can outsmart your boss before he fires you

Symptom-1

• Boss starts avoiding you and finds excuse to cancel meetings• If you are in his most trusted confidant list you will be

spending a lot of time in meetings which he attends• The more you are seen with him people will perceive that you

are the most trusted person of the boss• Alternatively when you are not wanted he will start sidelining

you

Symptom-2• When in wanted list you will be made star speaker or

presenter• Your boss may even allow you to draft his speech ,

presentation etc• Once you are not wanted or fallout• you are either placed at bottom of the speaker list

especially in employee meetings and at last minute for lack of time your

presentation will be cancelled or curtailed

Symptom-3• When in favored list you will be wanted in every meeting that

your boss attends • When out of demand your meeting invites to important

meetings that you were invitee in past stops coming• Boss’s Secretary tells that she forgot to invite you.• Suddenly the mailing list drops your id

Symptom-4

• There would have been time when even international travels in business class were encouraged by boss

• but when you are sidelined You are asked questions about your travel expenses

• and have to have approvals etc • by accounts department and the bills don’t get paid

• Earlier the boss always talked you as the only completely aligned guy around

• Suddenly he remembers performance reviews and sends you 8 things he wants to accomplish immediately

• The very items were the most impossible things in the last few months you were grappling with They become high priority now for the boss

• Your review meetings with boss get acrimonious

Symptom-6• You start getting nasty emails from the boss on trivial issues• Auto reminder gets busy from the boss’s secretary• And you start spending more time to trace those missing

emails.• How come he knows to remind you on those mails that you

deleted

• The presentations that were brilliant in the past now seem to have lots of issues

• Especially he starts correcting the font, spellings in your slide deck and even questions the design being not in approved format 8

• Boss starts tantrum in executive meting about things going wrong

• He does not say directly but you know who he is targeting

• You start getting the stick for things you never used to in the past

• sales being low, no new business, margins not in target etc

• He suddenly discovered the need for reviews and frequent reviews may be twice a week
