Pre-wedding Cultural Programmes:

The pre-wedding cultural programmes of Rajasthani people are associated with all rituals i.e. Engagement, Ganpati Sthapana, Pithi Dastoor, Janeva ceremony, Palla Dastoor, Toran etc. In all these rituals the women relatives of both the sides (bride and groom) sing shubh mangal geet (holy songs) inviting various gods deities. ceremony as well as happy married life of the couple. They also sing the songs related to wedding related to various gods such as Lord Shiva, Lord Rama etc.

But the main pre-wedding cultural ceremony can be termed as Mehfil, which is generally held one day before marriage at the houses of the both the parties. The famous Ghoomar dance of Rajasthan is performed there. It brings the audience the complete enjoyment and they can’t stop their legs shaking and they also come to the dance floor.

Cultural Programmes during Marriage Ceremonies:

When the barat comes to the house of bride and other rituals are performed a musical programme full of music and dance is performed by the professional artists. They are specially hired to entertain the members of barat. This thing generally happen in all the marriages performed according to Royal traditions such as of Maharajas. The performing artists are both men and women. They also present some historic and contemporary dramas to entertain the people.

The women relatives of the groom side as well as bride sing various holy songs along with all the rituals of the wedding. When the groom party arrives at the house of bride, the women relative of the bride sing welcome songs. Thereafter, with each ritual of the wedding such as kanyadan, Pani Graham etc. the songs are sung. In short, from arrival of groom party till departure of bride (vidai) the songs are associated with all rituals and women remain indulge in them.
