Ways to Get Moving When you have a desk job

This new age of communication has leftmany of us facing our computer screensfor hours and the consequences of all ofthat sitting are beginning to unfold.

Even if you exercise regularly, sitting at a desk for long periods oftime breaks down muscle and canlead to an inflexible spine, poorcirculation and a strained neck.

We live in a time where you have tobe reminded to actually move. Thegood news? Simple movementsduring the day can help. Here aresome ideas:

Set analarm tostand andstretch

If you’ve been sitting for anhour straight, get up and do afew stretches at your desk.Standing occasionally for5-minute increments can helpprevent muscle break down.

Take those stairs

I know you’ve heard this beforebut always opt for stairs wheneveryou can and especially if it’s atime that breaks up long bouts ofsitting. Walking the stairs is agreat way to get your heart rate upeven for a short time.

Walk around the building for breaks

Does your work offer a coffee break? Avoid using that time to lookat Facebook (although I know how tempting it is), get up and walkaround. Hopefully, there’s a coffee cart somewhere far away fromyour desk for motivation.

Wall Lunges

Do you have a wall near your desk?Stand up, lean against it standingstraight and do a few wall lunges. Thishelps get your blood flowing andheart rate up for a bit.

Chair squats

Stand in front of a chair with your feet hip-width apart.Slowly lower yourself toward the chair without sitting, keep your knees over your ankles. Place your weight inyour heels and straighten your body upright and repeat

Do a quick and easy exercise every timeyou go and come back from the bathroom

This will help you keep moving throughout theday and will become a good habit
