What Millennials Really Think About Gun Control

Key Findings Our Millennials are very familiar with guns and chances are if they haven’t had any first hand experience, they know someone who has. Although only 22% of our Millennials own firearms, 87% of them know someone who owns a firearm and 62% of them have fired a gun at least once before.

Fewer guns doesn’t mean less crime. 64% of our Millennials believe that there should be a limit on the amount of weapons an individual can own and 60% believe there should be a limit on ammunition. However, only 30% believe that banning firearms would actually reduce crime.

95% of our Millennials agree that gun ownership should be subject to background checks and obtaining licenses however they can’t seem to agree on what types of weapons should be legal. Only 62% said that assault-style and semi-automatic guns should be banned completely. While 68% admitted they would not give up their firearms even if Congress passed a law requiring them to do so.
