5 Tips For A Successful Ending

to Your Presentation

#

Focus on your audience

GIVE THEM SOMETHING NEW THEY DON‘T KNOW

ANYTHING ABOUT. Lead them to new conclusions.

Make them the center of your presentation.

ASK YOURSELF SOME QUESTIONS: What do I want the audience to understand?

How can I make them feel included?

How will the audience remember my presentation?

USE PHRASES LIKE: „Now we know that …“

„This brings us to the conclusion that …“ „Now we can be clear that …“

#

Let the speech talk

for itself

AVOID PHRASES LIKE: „I hope you liked my presentation“ & „I hope that wasn‘t too boring“

BE CONFIDENT OF YOURSELF AND YOUR PRESENTATION. Fishing for affirmation will make you seem unprofessional.

Even the best presentation faces the risk of ending on a negative note.

Don’t announce the end – it will reveal itself

… you want your presentation to end

… you want to release the audience from listening to you

… you are not even convinced about the topic of

your presentation and are bored yourself

TRY NOT TO REFER TO THE ENDING, FOR IT WILL SEEM LIKE …

Focus on summarizing the essentials and leading the audience

to a new conclusion

#

Develop a powerful

final sentence

SAYING „THANK YOU“ IS A WEAK CLOSE. Speakers often don‘t prepare an ending although the end sometimes is the only thing the audience will remember.

… Check the last sentence for consistency

… Try to evoke a positive atmosphere

… Give a lasting send-off that sticks with your audience

New thoughts

cause trouble

Don’t cause confusion! Avoid introducing something new!

Don’t distract from the leading conclusion!

A good presentation functions while a great

ending convinces.
