MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 HTTP://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=HPGC5D3_V6C

• Mission impossible 2 has an opening sequence as the main character which is Tom Cruise who is the first thing we see on the screen. There is an establishing shot of rocks and the main character looking extremely small which shows how far up he is climbing, this infers he is courageous and likes to take risks. This uses CGI as he is connected to ropes but we cannot see them as they have been edited out. This makes the opening sequence better as it infers that he is very skilled and very fit. Furthermore there is a high angle shot which makes him look even smaller and so we can see how far away he is from the ground and if he fell it would be a certain death which builds tension. When he reaches the top of the mountain there is music which is a sigh of relief as he gets to the top as it is a fun and fast soundtrack. There is also an eye line match when the man shoots out of the helicopter with a rocket launcher. We can see that the main character (Ethan) is looking at the rocket and we can see where he is looking. Moreover there is another eye line match when he puts on the glasses and we can see what he is looking at so the audience can feel the same as him. There is a pleonastic sound of when he throws the glasses and they explode, this then cross cuts to the opening credits which is all CGI. When this happens we can see that the Mission Impossible Title is being made with metal and spark sounds happening. This shows the genre of the film being action and adventure from the soundtrack of the clashes together of metal. It also has the names of characters and producers in a brown font which goes with the mountain he is climbing.

• Pretty much all of this opening sequence is CGI with the blue lines going across the black screen. If you was in the cinema watching this the blue line would be extremely bright, they have done this so you know the film is going to be colourful and bright. As the line is blue we know that this will be the protagonists as blue connotes a good colour. Furthermore we know this as the title which comes up is also in blue. There is a non-dietetic sound which is a voiceover telling which we guess his son a story which the film will be about in the future. Throughout the opening sequence there is a birds eye view over the top of the blue lines following them like they are taking us somewhere. There is a soundtrack over the voice over but is very quiet and starts building up which increases tension. As soon as the title comes up it is extremely bright compared to the background which is done by using CGI. The soundtrack finally gets as loud as it can when we see the title which catches the audiences eye so they know the film is ready to start. The camera then zooms into the house from where the voice is coming from so we know who is talking over. The blue lines then lead together to become New York which is like it is making a new city which is also done by using CGI. There is an establishing shot of the buildings that are created to show where they are and for confusion in the audience as it has gone from CGI blue lines to a normal city.

PANIC ROOMHTTP://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=CRXK8KF1ING

• This opening sequence is set in a busy city as the camera has different establishing shots of buildings in New York. The first thing we see on the opening sequence is the pictures and productions for who made the film, this is so we know who made the film. The font of the characters and directors stands out the most as it is a metallic metal colour which is quite formal but stands out to the rest of the buildings. This is done so it is the first thing the audience looks at so we know who is in the film. This is similar for the title of the film which stands out because the soundtrack changes to a very low key piano sounds so if the audience were looking down they look up to see what is happening and know the title of the film. The music then builds up after the panic room title to build tension and vulnerability. You can also hear a ticking noise in the background which builds confusion in the audience cause they will be asking the question, why is there a ticking sound? What is counting down? This also builds tension. The establishing shots show different parts around New York to show this film will be set all around the city in different locations which will excite the audience for further into the film.

• This opening sequence is different from others. This is because it is telling you everything about the main character in two minutes due to the cross cutting. This is to show the comical side of the film as he seems to be the best policeman ever. The first thing we see is the Universal logo as this is the productive company but has a soundtrack of the top of a whistle, a bell and a siren as it is a police film and they are the noises when called up. When the production companies have gone there is silence and all we hear is a police officers footsteps, this builds confusion in the audience as it has just gone silent all of a sudden. It starts with an extreme long shot down a corridor which emphasises the length of the corridor also showing the comical side of the film as it feels like he is walking for a long time. After this lots of different things happen all at the same time like different shot types starting from a low shot of his feet, with also the music starting to build up with his non-dietetic voiceover talking. This is to make the audience feel disorientated as he is informing us how much he has achieved to also boost the comedy genre of the film. From the wide shots we can see that the main character is at the front of every activity to show he is courageous and the best police officer around. The opening scene happens really fast to show the main character is extremely skilled and we know he will be the best throughout the film. The location that he is walking around is the main HQ as it looks formal, which shows he has very high standards.

• The start of the opening sequence the production companies are all in a night vision green colour which shows the film will be computerised as the production companies are not normally in these colours. After this CGI is used from the green coding with numbers and letter which explains why it was green at the start. This infers that this film will be technical. The title then comes up after the coding has gone away like that is the right answer to all of the coding. It then has an actual computer and someone hacking it with all the coding at the start. This then makes a number which is done by using CGI also but a non diegetic sound is used also which is the voiceover. We know that the number that is made is a phone number as the synchronous sound in the background happens when the numbers are found therefore the audience knows a call is being made using sound. Silence is then used as this builds tension and confusion because nobody knows what is actually happening. The low key light also builds tension and vulnerability as the audience do not know what is going to happen. The audience does not know yet who is the antagonist or protagonist because we associate police as good people who help but they are in an unusual dark place due to the light and location which seems to be an underground. An underground normally connotes danger and vulnerability. The soundtrack starts getting louder which builds tension and makes the audience a little scared they do not know what is through the door due to the use of sound. A mid shot of the policemen in the underground is used to show they are extremely vulnerable and could be attacked at any time.
