How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary

texts?

Star ImageThe initial common features between the video, the digipak and the website is that you can immediately see that the star of the music video is portrayed across each of the ancillary texts. This allows the audience to immediately identify that the digipak and website actually belong to the star that they saw featured in the music video. In terms of the mise en scène, he is wearing a hoody in each of the images and helps conform to the idea of the urban side of R&B music. In terms of the colours across each of the images, you can immediately identify the use of blues and greys that connote somewhat of a deep meaning due to the fact that they are considered as dark colours again conforming with the urban of R&B

The user of the star image synergy across the video and ancillary products helps meet the Andrew Goodwin theory in terms of making the star visual in all aspects. This helps make his image unique in order to stay current and remain outstanding from the competition. This can somewhat conform to the vainness of typical R&B artist due to their egoistical nature.

Background links

In terms of the background of some of the clips in the video, there was an urban wall that feature of graffiti, due to this, we wanted to try and keep this across the video and the digipak to try and conform with the urban side of R&B once again.

As you can see, we added a graffiti background to the CD sections of the digipak – initially the images of the graffiti were in a variety of colours; due to this we decided to change the colours back to the greys that we originally planned as this helps conform with the somewhat darkness of the urban areas.
