  • 4. The Working Environment Council and the BARs
    • The Danish Working Environment Councilconsists of representatives from the social partners and acts as advisor for the Danish Minister for Employment regarding occupational safety and health
    • The 11 Branch Working Environment Councils consist of representatives from the social partners from the relevant branches.

  • 6. Schools, facts and figures
    • In Denmark there is a ten-year compulsory education 0 9th class
    • 10th form is an offer to pupils who have completed the compulsory education
    • There are 2300 basic schools - 2/3 of them municipal,1/3 private)
    • 700.000 pupils
    • 60.000 teachers
  • 7. Work, facts and figures
    • There are approximately 200.000 youngsters in Denmark
    • 44% of them are working, most of them in spare time jobs
    • Young people are injured twice as much as older people
  • 8. School Legislation in Denmark
    • Teaching Safety and Health has gained a high priority in legislation and curriculum
    • Teaching of Safety and Health is incorporated in a number of primary school subjects
    • Safety and Health training is mandatory for all school grades
    • We operate with two sets of Safety and Health
    • 1) Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)
    • 2) Educational Safety and Health (ESH)
  • 9. Basis for The School Project
    • is the Governments Action Programme, which recommends that
    • basic attitudes and knowledge in relation to safety and health should be provided by schools
    • pupils must be able to make a positive contribution to their own health and safety
    • and to that of their colleagues
  • 10. The Aim is
    • strengthening safety and health training
    • mainstreaming the training into general teaching in primary and secondary schools
  • 11. The Idea is that
    • good safety and health attitudes and habits should be developed in school
    • it is important to encourage children to take a constructive part in safety and health work at an early stage of their school careers
  • 12. The Methodology
    • The School Project incorporates and encourages project-work
    • It is a methodology where pupils actively and purposefully
    • investigate their environment
    • form concepts and ideas about it
    • try to understand it
    • form opinions about it
    • take action on it
