The vision is to have a combined, multifaceted Bahamian tourism-based village. The basic idea is to have a resort that caters to all of the tourism models that exist throughout the Bahamas, in one Bahamian resort that is actually styled as a Bahamian village and development. With having a scaled down version of these within one resort styled village, not

only can guests explore the various different tourism models in one place, but the Bahamas can set up workshops to see how to advance and proliferate these tourism models

better. This will allow guests, developers, Bahamian Government and it’s various agencies to see these models work, and make them better for the whole Bahamas and

tourism in the region.

The following are various tourism models that can be setup within a unique Bahamian village..

Standard “The Normal” tourism model: The tried and true tourism experience - a standard Vacation experience.

Agritourism: Farm based tourism, helping to support the local agricultural economy. A farm based tourism model that allows guests to be involved in growing foods and the other aspects while staying at the resort village.

Health Tourism: On-site medical staff to perform various medical procedures and the guests recoup and relax while in a beautiful island atmosphere.

Educational Tourism: may involve travelling to an education institution, research facility, a wooded retreat or some other destination in order to be involved in hands-on research either for pleasure or for continuing education.

Music/Video/Photography Tourism: A world class music and video studio allowing guests and or musicians to work or collaborate on creating music and videos.

Religious Tourism: Faith based retreats, couples retreats, youth fellowships, Christian fellowship, mission projects.

Ecotourism, Geo-tourism and Sustainable Tourism: involving visiting fragile, pristine, and relatively undisturbed natural areas, intended as a low-impact and often small scale alternative to standard commercial (mass) tourism; a “green” offering.

Cultural Tourism: includes visiting historical or interesting sites, and experiencing their cultural heritages. This type of tourism may also include cultural experiences, such as historical museum, learning island crafts, history etc.

The following are various tourism models that can be setup within a unique Bahamian village.

Culinary Tourism: Food based, learn to prepare various Caribbean inspired cooking techniques.

Nautical Tourism: Fishing, diving, snorkel tours, everything to deal with the water based tourism. It is an increasingly popular way to combine love of Sailing and boating with vacation and holiday activities.

Perpetual tourism: wealthy individuals always on vacation; some of them, for tax purposes, to avoid being resident in any country. The resort village will partner with other worldwide perpetual tourism sites.

Adventure Tourism: tourism involving travel in rugged regions, or adventurous sports such as Bicycling, Free-Diving, Shark Dives and hiking.

Voluntourism: This tourism model allows guests to work within the resort village as part of their stay at the resort, work on the farm, assist in research tests, etc.

Resort Overview

The resort village will be a uniquely scaled resort. Although the Scope and generalized idea of combining all the types of tourism that The Bahamas has to offer in one location, the initial thought is to have the resort planned as a small village. The design will have the architectural style of the well know Bahamian villages like Hopetown, Harbour Island, Spanish Wells. The design possibilities

and the layout of the resort are limitless, so I won't delve too deep into the design ideas right now. Initially, the thought process is to have a main resort area with the surrounding buildings to be the various tourism model sites, in

essence creating a village that is an actual resort. The buildings will house the various tourism models with rooms and amenities that serve that tourism field. This village will be ever evolving as new and varied tourism models come to

light. Using the design philosophy similar to that of Walt Disney World, if a new tourism model exists, then, a new section of the resort village can be opened

and thus expanding the existing base.

The overall benefit to this Resort Village is that it does not need to rely on one or two particular types of tourism models to operate.
