Carpetwith Microban® antimicrobial product protection.
Proven ProtectionThe photographs (below) illustrate the long lasting protection of Microban® zinc anitmicrobial technology on carpet. The data and images were generated using AATCC Test Method 174 II, an industry standard test method used to quantitatively demonstrate antimicrobial activity on textiles. The standard test method protocol specifies that a protected and unprotected sample both be inocculated with bacteria and that after a 24 hour incubation period, the remaining organisms are to then be recovered and counted. To better demonstrate the effect of Microban® zinc technology on carpet over time, bacteria counts in these tests were recovered
and counted at multiple time periods over the standard AATCC Test Method 174 II time period of 24 hours.

CleanerIn these images, taken using a confocal microscope, you can see how an unprotected surface supports the growth and
proliferation of bacteria and fungal, while on the Microban protected surface the bacteria and fungal are unable to grow or
reproduce over time. According to AATCC 174-II and 174 III with wash AATCC 138, of ZO6 resulted in no fungal growth.
This information is based upon standard laboratory tests and is provided for comparative purposes to substantiate antimicrobial activity for non-public health applications. Microban technology is not designed to protect users from disease causing microorganisms. Microban protection inhibits the growth of microorganisms that cause stains, odors, and product degradation. Antimicrobial action limited to fabric surface.

•Samples were kept at room temperature
throughout the duration of the test.
•At the indicated time, the bacteria were
removed and counted.
Dual-Action TechnologyMicroban Zinc Technology is the active ingredient used in carpet applications. This dual technology inhibits the growth of both
bacteria and fungi by disrupting multiple functions required for bacterial maintenance and reproduction. Its mode of action makes
it perfect for applications where high foot traffic and food spills may lead to the growth of microbes. In addition, this revolutionary
technology is compatible with most performance finishes such as moisture management, repellency, stain release and flame
retardants commonly used in the textile and apparel industries. Proprietary formulation and application techniques ensure that
Microban’s antimicrobial technology works 24/7, and is permanently locked into the carpet fibers.
Proven History of Safe UseMicroban zinc technology is based on a technology with a long history of safe use in diverse applications or products. Microban
zinc technology is registered with the US EPA and EU BPR. The technology is available in a variety of masterbatches and liquid
formulations for these applications.
