Smart application

• Efficient site selection

• Proper seed farming

• Crop health monitoring

• Timely pesticides spraying

• Estimate water levels

• Planned transportation

• Accurate stock supply

• Smart business

• And more

Trends in using of technology

• An animal-drawn plow replaced the digging stick. Then later, that plow wasreplaced by the horse drawn moldboard plow. Currently, we have the largetractors that pull complex tilling machines. But, even these machines are beingreplaced by no-till or minimum-till farming practices, which reduce theamount of work it takes to prepare the soil for planting.

Site selection

• Satellite images, aerial photographs and manualsurveying techniques we used and using from long time. Now its time to change the methodology.

• Advanced technologies on Geo-spatial analysis Using DEM, estimate the slope. Groundwater aquifer mapping (Smart water supply from

nearest wells) Based on climatic and soil studies, we can fix suitable crop for

the selected site Depends on periodic studies, we can estimate crop outcome. Decision support by feasibility studies, etc.

Site selection process – key factors

• Accessibility

• Labor supply and cost

• Security and political stability

• Bureaucracy and investment benefits

• Frequency of typhoon and other calamities

• Cost of acquisition or lease and in preparing the land

• Biotic factors and the prevalence of pests and diseases

• Soil, topographic, and climatic requirements of the crop

Smart seed farming

• After dredging, if we fix the route navigation for drone or

rover based machine, that will fly along the paddy land /

move.

• Depends on algorithms that triggers and farm the seeds

in sequence on same height

• This will reduce the man-made effort

• And faster than good olden methodology.

• Results based on flying speed, distance, time, area,

weight of seed bag and capacity of drone.

Methods of Planting Crops

• Direct Seeding Means planting in the crop area with the use of seeds

• Transplanting Planting with the use of pre-grown seedlings or plants that had been

propagated from seeds

Smart pesticides spraying

Page 18: Smart Green Revolution

Smart pesticides spraying

We can spray pesticides in different time intervals

Based on wind speed we can change our drones direction

As per navigation, drone sprays the liquid or any

One person is enough to operate the instrument

Smart irrigation

• Every crop needs water, but indifferent ratios. So, if we have plannedsprinkling system, we can savemaximum water.

• For example., tomato kind of plants, doesn’t need much water, but whenmoisture content has less in climate itrequires water. In this situation if wefix thermal sensor at crop site that willgive climatic conditions report forevery 1hour, by using these results oursprinklers can on automatically ifplants requires water.

• In this method instead of givingcontinues watering, we can give whenits necessary and where it need. So wecan save most of the water withoutany extra effort.

Smart Business

• An individual Person decides to go into farming, thepurchase of a farm lot being considered as a betteralternative of investing hard-earned money rather thandepositing it in a bank. Here one of the most importantconsiderations is the value of the property, that is, theselling price is as low as can be reasonably possible.Other factors being considered are water supply andthose which make the farm suitable to a wide choice ofcrops and investment opportunities.

Conclusion

• With the use of technology under development and highly populatedcountries like INDIA; land reform process (Converting agriculture lands intoresidential) is the current trend in the name of expansion of cities. In thissituations we have to supply more food with the limited agricultural land. Toovercome these challenges, smart green revolution will play a major role toenhance quality of human life by improving usage & supply of food.

• The application of “Smart Green Revolution” is the answer for sustainabledevelopment, but poor countries have not been able to use applicabletechnology largely because of their inability to afford to the availablealternatives.
