Weight While Breastfeeding
Eat Balanced Meals Frequently
• During their first months, babies typically eat every three to four hours, which means that your body is using energy to make milk that frequently. If you too much, too frequently, you will continue to gain weight. If you don’t eat enough, you will lose your milk.
Stay Hydrated
• Breastmilk is made up for 50% water and drinking water plays a significant role in losing weight regardless of if you are breastfeeding or not. A great general guideline is to drink at least eight ounces of water after each nursing session.
Exercise
• Work to establish an exercise program that progressively increases in volume and length. You definitely don’t want to go too hard and too fast. When exercising, be sure to do both cardiovascular (elliptical or treadmill) and resistance (weight or bands) training exercises that focus on your core.
Start a Diet

Breastfeed
• When you nurse your little one, your body converts the nutrients you eat each day into the mil your baby eats. This is a very energy demanding process and typically uses about 750 calories a day and when you are burning calories, you are losing weight!
