What is Pinterest?



Pinterest is a sort of digital board


or simply a virtual pinboard


It is about collecting and

sharing


the different interesting things you

find on the web

Getting Started with

Pinterest


Go to

http://www.pinterest.com















Enter username, email

and password

VA Giselle


Click Create Account

VA Giselle


Create your first board

page will appear


Select a board

that interests you



Click Create Board

of your choice


Wait while it’s still creating


The Follow board

page will appear next


Choose one topic

that you like


click Follow button of 5

boards that you like


All circles will turn red when

you are done choosing 5 boards


Click Next after

choosing your 5 boards


You will then be redirected

to the Pinterest Homepage


You will see a “confirm your email” tab

on top of the Pinterest Homepage


Click tab to

confirm email address


Check your email’s inbox and

Click to confirm email address


Click Confirm Email

to complete the process


You will be redirected to the Pinterest

Homepage when the Sign up process is done


Profile & Privacy Settings

Note that the information on

your profile page is public. Be

cautious about sharing too

much personal information.


To modify your

personal

and

privacy settings


Click the profile icon in the

top-right corner of the page


Profile page will appear


Click Edit Profile button


Profile Setting page

will appear

top part of the page


You can modify your public profile:

username, location and bio.

Profile picture will be imported automatically from facebook or twitter

You can upload a different picture if you prefer


Modify privacy settings

according to your preference

Bottom part of the page


Click Save Profile

to confirm changes


Privacy settings are now saved.

Updated profile page will appear.


Finding and Inviting Friends

Pinterest is a way more

than just saving pins of

your own. It’s also about

sharing and interacting

with people you know.


To Find and Invite

Facebook Friends


Hover the mouse over the

profile icon then click Find Friends


The Find Friends page

will appear


Type a friend’s name


Click Invite


Send a Message

dialogue box will appear


Type your message



To invite Friends

via Email


Hover the mouse over the profile

icon then click Find Friends


The Find Friends page

will appear


Click Email in the

left-navigation menu


This will appear


Enter the email address of

the person you want to invite


Click Send Invites button


Invite sent successfully


Pinterest can also

find your friends

through Gmail

and Yahoo!Mail


Just connect it to

Pinterest,

and you are good to

go!


To Search For Friends

You can look for people you

know on Pinterest by using

the search bar


The Search Bar in the

upper-left corner


Type the name of the person

you want to find then click enter


By default, Pinterest will search for pins

that match your search terms.


Click Pinners to show only users

in your search results.


Any users who match your

search will appear.


Click Follow to start

following a user's pins.


Creating a Pinboard

A board can be created

on any topic


such as

Latest Styles,

Healthy Recipes ,

or

Favorite Places


You can add

as many pins

to a board

as you want.


To create a board,

click the Add button


The Add dialogue box

will appear


Click Create a Board


The Create a Board



Key in a Board Name


Choose a Board Category

from the drop-down list


If you prefer to keep your Board

private, turn the Secret button on…


…Otherwise, leave it Off


Pinners can also be added if you

want to collaborate with a friend.


Type the name or email

of a friend that you want to invite



Invite sent successfully.

The name of your friend will appear.

Click Create Board

when you are all set


The new pinboard will appear.

You are now ready to save pins.


Saving Pins

The Bookmarklet

is the simplest way

to save things from

anywhere on the web…


…It is a bookmark

that you will need

to install

to your internet browser…


…It will let you save

a pin without leaving the

current page in your browser.


Let’s Install the

Bookmarklet,

also called as

“Pin It” button


Hover the mouse

over the About button


Click ”Pin It Button”


The Bookmarklet page

will appear


Click, hold and drag the Pin It button

to your browser's bookmark bar.


The Bookmarklet is

now installed.

with the

Bookmarklet


When you see an image you want to

pin, click Pin It on your browser


All the images

that you can pin will appear.


Hover over the image you

want to pin and then click Pin it.


The Create a Pin



Click the drop-down arrow

to choose a pinboard


Choose the desired pinboard


Key in a

description of the pin


When you're ready to save your pin, click Pin It.


The Success! dialog box

will appear.


Click See your Pin

to see the pin on its pinboard.


The pinboard will appear

with the newly added pin.


To Upload a Pin


Click Add button

at the homepage


The Add



Click Upload a Pin


The Upload a Pin

dialog box will appear.


Click choose file


The Open dialog box

will appear.


Select a photo

from your computer



Photo is now

uploaded to Pinterest




or create a new board


Enter a description of the pin


When all set, click Pin It


Viewing the newly

uploaded pin


To save a Pin

from a website


Click Add button at the

top of the Pinterest homepage


The Add dialogue box

will appear


Click Add a Pin


The Add a Pin



Enter the web address

into the text box


Click Find Images


Choose the desired Pinboard

or Create a New Board


Choose an image from site;

click Prev or next


Enter a description of the pin


When you’re all set,

click Pin It


The pinboard will appear

with the newly added pin.


Note that you can

pin videos from

YouTube and Vimeo…


…this will let you watch

videos straight from your

pinboard!


To Repin a Pin

to repin is to save a pin from

another Pinterest user

into one of your pinboards


Hover the mouse over the pin


click the Repin button


The Repin





Then enter a description


When you are all set,

click Pin It


Repin successful!


To Like a Pin


Liking a pin

adds the image to your

profile’s Likes section


…the image does not get

added to one of your boards.


Hover the mouse

over the desired pin


click the Like button


To see the pins you've liked


Hover the mouse over the

profile icon then click Likes


Your Liked pins

will come into show


To Follow a Pinner


1. Click the Follow button in a

pin that you like


2. Click the Follow All button on

a pinner's profile page.


To Follow a Pinboard


While viewing a pin, locate the

Pinned onto the board section


Click the Follow button to start

following pins from this pinboard.


To Unfollow

a Pinner


Click your profile icon


Your Profile page will appear.


Click the Following button


A list of pinners and pinboards that

you are currently following will appear.


Click the Unfollow button to stop

following a pinner or a pinboard.


To Edit a Pin


A pinboard view


Hover the mouse over a pin


Click the Edit Button


The Edit Pin page will appear.


you can change the

description…


update the link…


choose its pinboard…


or even delete it.


Click Save Pin when you're

ready to save the changes.


Viewing the edited Pin


Note that you can add

a price tag to any pin

by typing $ followed by the

amount in the pin’s description.


To Edit a Pinboard


While viewing a pinboard,

click the Edit Board button


The Edit Board page

will appear.


You can change the Title


change the

pinboard's description…


choose a category…


add another pinner…


or delete it.


Click Save Settings

to save your changes.

To set a Pinboard Cover


Board cover is the large

image that appears

at the top of each

pinboard…


…by default, the newest pin

in any pinboard

will become the cover.


Hover the mouse

over a pinboard


click Edit Board Cover


The Board Cover

dialog box will appear.


Click either of the arrows to preview

different pins from the pinboard.


Click Set Cover when you are

done choosing a cover image

To Browse Pinterest

by Category


You can explore

pins by topic…


You can also

browse videos,

popular pins

and gift ideas…


Hover over Categories

in the homepage


click the desired topic


Pins that match the

selected category will appear.


To Search Pinterest


You can use Search

when you are looking for

something more

specific.


Type a search term into

the search bar and press Enter


A series of pins that match

the search will appear.


Click Boards to see entire

pinboards that match the search.


A series of boards that

match the search will appear.


To Follow a Pin to its source


If you want to know where

a Pin was originally found,

just click the Pin…


…it will navigate you

to the source page. This is

practically helpful

if you are organizing things.


Click a pin

to open a larger view.


the larger view

of the pin will appear.


Click the pin again to navigate

to the original source link.


The original page will appear as

a new tab in your browser.
