NOXIOUS WEEDS

ALBERTA

A noxious weed or injurious weed is a weed that has been designated by an agricultural authority as one that is injurious to agricultural or horticultural crops, natural habitats or ecosystems, or humans or livestock. In Canada, constitutional responsibility for the regulation of agriculture and the environment are shared between the federal and provincial governments. The federal government through the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulates invasive plants under the authority of the Plant Protection Act, the Seeds Act and regulated regulations. Certain plant species have been designated by the CFIA as noxious weeds in the Weed Seeds Order.

Our ServicesWe’ll take care of your leases like it’s our own backyard. Coming from a generational farming

background; we have a knowledge in agriculture that stems from University education and years of experience. We make an individual assessment of each site to determine the competitive growth and then move the site towards a clean and effective environment.

There are 29 Noxious weeds and 46 Prohibited Noxious weeds in Alberta that require containment under the Weed Control Act. We keep these weeds in check while ensuring that growth remains less than 1 metre high around your wellheads and surrounding pipe; meeting fire safety regulations. This helps minimize the effects on the natural ecosystem and prevent species from establishing and spreading onto adjacent lands, making you a good neighbour. Having farmed ourselves we understand the plight of farmers and can relate with their needs around sensitive crops and cattle. Keeping up good relations with your neighbours is our goal.
