Graphic Design and More: 3 Online Advertising Methods
Online marketing, quite simply, is promoting services, products, or a company using the Internet, with the first known
instance being through email. Even with policies being put in place as regarding the use of this avenue for advertising, it
eventually became what is now known as ‘spam mail’.
The success – rather, lack of such with this method is fairly apparent, of course. Promotion through unwanted or
unsolicited messages doesn’t cost much, even when they’re sent in bulk, but recipients aren’t likely to read mail they
didn’t ask for. Considering this, however, and the fact that the Worldwide Web didn’t permit online advertising in its
early days, such a trend has definitely come a long way when it comes to development and techniques.
Here are several methods you encounter in your everyday use of the Internet, and some you may even use in
advertising your own business.
1. Search engine marketing. Search engines like Google provide both sponsored and non-sponsored results (non-
organic and organic, respectively), depending on the searcher’s question or questions. The former has
advertisers bidding on keywords – that is, the search terms that were used – and the bidding allows them to be
included in the sponsored results for a query that uses the same keywords.
A web design company Abu Dhabi may actually offer other services besides helping to build the website,
including search engine optimization or SEO services, to help increase a site’s visibility through organic search
results.
In fact, web designing Abu Dhabi goes hand in hand with SEO. Not only would effective design help ensure a
website can be crawled by a search engine’s ‘spiders’, but it would also ensure a cohesive yet unique layout,
simple navigation, and faster load times – all of which help to boost visibility even more.
2. Display advertising. When graphic design Abu Dhabi – including text, logos, and photos – is used to deliver the
marketing message online, this is what’s called display advertising. Some ads even include animation, but that
should be on a case-to-case basis, so if it’s not for you, it’s best not to force the issue there.
Using browsing habits and other information, the advertising company will know how best to reach their target
market, and so the ads will vary in design and size. They could banners – the ones you see at the top of a page
sometimes – to simple text-based ads containing hyperlinks that would lead the viewer to the main site.
Display advertising also includes pop-up ads, which display in a different browser window and so can be closed
whenever the viewer wishes. Others, like floating ads and interstitial ads, are usually displayed only for a set
amount of time, so they’re not as intrusive – but they can be just as distracting.
3. Mobile advertising. Applications used to be offered only to retrieve information such as the weather, or to make
it easier to check one’s email while on the go. Public demand had since led to expansion into GPS services,
mobile games, and so on. So companies have started using applications to give their users access even on their
phones, not to mention a more personalized experience with information tailored to fit individual tastes.
